In 2025, a way appeared to replace Ukrainian licenses with Spanish ones without having to “catch” that net at the DGT, which is usually almost impossible or can be done within a few months. The application is submitted online, and after a few days you will receive an email with a date when you need to come to the DGT to bring the original Ukrainian driver's license and other documents.

What do you need to know?
The main thing to understand is that for this method you MUST have a digital signature (certificate) and also pass a medical examination (it's very simple, it takes 15 minutes). Below is more detail on all the steps:
Steps to replace your license in Spain online (without a network):
- Get @Clave or a digital certificate
- It will take 1–3 days. I have already written instructions for obtaining the certificate, you can find everything in Digital certificate in Spain: how to get it and what it is for
- Pass a medical examination
- This can be done at any medical center for drivers (Centro Médico de Conductores). They themselves send the results to the DGT, but just in case you need to take with you the sheet that they give you at this center. I wrote about this in more detail in the article on normal exchange of driving licenses in Spain (step 3).
- Go to the DGT website:
- Authorize via @Clave or certificate
- Fill out the online form
- Upload a scanned copy of Ukrainian rights (both sides)
- Upload passport (Ukrainian or foreign)
- Wait for an email
- Within a few days, you will be sent an invitation to the nearest DGT branch on a specific date.
- Come to the DGT on the appointed day
- Take with you:
- Original Ukrainian rights
- Passport
- Photo 32×26 mm
- Printed medical board result (just in case)
